On June 3, 1968, Andy was shot. At 4:51pm he was pronounced clinically dead. In the story I heard, the doctors gave up, but then Mario Amaya explained to them that he was Andy Warhol so they tried to resuscitate him. After having been pronounced dead for 90 seconds, they were finally able to bring him back. This is the card I sent to him on June 4:

Darling Andy,

I was horribly upset to hear how you were severely injured. I am saying prayers for you… don’t know how much good they do, but at least you will know I care, and care tremendously.

You are on of the few people who really matter to me, and I can’t bear the thought of anything bad happening to you. I hope this letter finds you well on the way to recovery and with it I send you all my love.
